The McDonald tartan is a very attractive and distinctive tartan, it is quite unusual and recognizable because the tartan has a much smaller pattern than most tartans.

Don’t have the need for it, I was just generally interested in the cost since that should be figured into the cost of one of these.

It all depends on the weather and how long you are going to be outside. I went all last winter in Chicago wearing almost all my kilts. The only ones I took out of the rotation were my tan AK and the SWK Nightstalker did not get much wear unless the temps were going to be in the 30's or above. Basically, I was outside to get into my vehicle, then for the walk from the car to the office. Probably not more than 10 minutes outside on most days. With some good hose, and a long jacket, you will be fine. I don't own a tank yet, only UK's, USAK's, and a couple of PK's (one which is very heavy and lined with flannel). The lined PK was perfect for the worst weather.

Being a newbie I thought about adding a flannel liner to a kilt but I didn't want to say anything. The kilt I'm working on now is sort of lightweight and I thought since I was the one sewing it, I might try to figure out someway to add a flannel liner on those occasions when I might want it.
Any opinions/comments? Good idea or no?
Also, I was hoping to see an explaination of what a "tank" is. Is that a traditional wool kilt?
Thanks!!

Abbreviations used on the board are listed in the FAQ area.
A "Tank" is an 8 yd traditional kilt.

So which kilts did you wear and in what kinds of weather? Was the SWK Nightstalker not warm?
