Not quite yet, but Barb can elaborate on that.
She has some "pressing" matters to take care of before the revisions can be finished.
Believe me, we will all know when it goes to press.

You can still order the first edition, and Barb will be printing just the new information for those of us who want it all!

Well worth the money- indeed. I'm very disappointed to say that the copy that I purchased a few months past has gone missing... and in a random search, the only copy I could find outside of the publishers website.... is selling for $130 USD on Amazon! Good grief! Looks like I am most definately eager with anticipation for the 2nd edition

That's the sort of thing that makes authors wince. That much money for your book, and you're not getting a cent of it.

To those interested in Barb's book please remember, Celtic Dragon Press and Barb Tewksbury are one and the same thing. When you order from the publisher it is Barb herself that will answer your e-mail.
What you spend on her book will stay with Barb.
And her book will pay for itself even if you never intend to make your own kilt but simply need the information about what a real kilt should look and feel like so you can make a good informed decision on who will make your next kilt.

Now I read on the website for the book that it's out of print until the 2nd edition came out. Does this mean that she has zero copies of the first edition left, or just that I'm only looking at the pre-order in the face? My first copy was purchased from the publisher directly by a family member as a gift. The book has been invaluable tool in making decisions on the last 2 kilts I've purchased.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to be posting this, just kind of on the hunt due to being stuck at a standstill in my current project with my bible of kilt making.

My .02 on the book: As a rookie seemster and complete novice at almost everything kilt related, The Art of Kilt Making became an essential tool to me in not only working out my first home made kilt, but in urging my hand towards quality garments and fabrics. It truely is a book that any and every one with an interest in making or purchasing a kilt should own.

    Hi!

I truly have only a few books left. Not very good planning on my part. I had intended to have enough right to the time of the printing of the 2nd edition. But....all of a sudden this spring, the book started selling about twice as well as over the past few years, so I've run out a bit sooner than I had hoped.

Matt sells them and has a few left, as does Tartantown (www.tartantown.com). You might also try Celtic Croft, although I think they may only have a couple left. I'm in Victoria right now, but I'll check when I get home to see what other vendors might have copies left.

We stock it in our gift shop! Though apparantly I'm grossly undercharging for it!

Barb, I've been planning on ordering it for a while ever since my last order fell through, but I'll likely need it before August.
Can I ask, will the revision significantly improve my ability to make a good kilt or should I just go ahead and order from Matt?

    Thanks,
    Arlen

If you're going to make a trad knife-pleated kilt, the instructions will be the same as in edition #1. The main addition in the second edition will be a chapter on box-pleated kilts, including (thanks to Way2Fractious and Steve Ashton) instructions for military box pleating. There will be a few other little things such as adding a few illustrations to the old instructions, a thimble pattern, alternative buckle closures, and some new photos, but the basic instructions will remain the same.

Arlen as I read the last line "will the revision significantly improve my ability to make a good kilt" I couldn't help but remember the old joke: Dr. will I be able to play the piano after the operation? The Dr. asked 'Can you play the piano now?' Patient no, but I was hoping . . .

But on to the real reason for this post->

Barb didn't you say that you were planning to printing a booklet that would cover the important additions to the new version? This would be available at a reasonable charge for those of us that have the original and haven't used it to the falling apart level yet.
