I haven't so much done anything for the good of kilting, but for the good of me and my family. Being Kilted just happens to be who I am.

Bah Humbug! If the rest of the male of the human species can't overcome their prejudices and realize why kilts are so comfortable, then I for one will welcome the lowered prices that they promote! Remember, increased demand means increased prices...

[quote=GMan;300494.... I am a firm believer that when one dons the Kilt it should be done with respect and honor while we are clad with this garment.... [/quote]

This past Sunday afternoon, I dons the Kilt and clad with this garment made the short trip to the final resting place of Peter McGregor, a proud Scot and acknowledged to be the first settler in our fair City. It was a bitterly cold wind blowing at my kilt, but I persevered while paying respect and honor to this hardy pioneer.

This a photo of the simple wooden grave marker that identifies his final resting place.

Nothing extra specific in the last 24 hours or week but already two American friends of mine are considering ordering a kilt and my first one hasn't arrived yet! Perhaps once they see my tank one or both might kilt up. Not ultra important to me but it would be fun.

Also, most of my Japanese friends are very excited about my kilt and are super keen to see me wear it when it arrives. This will most probably be the first time a lot of them have seen a kilt and I am delighted I can show them some more of my roots and that they are very interested.

It's been more like 36 hours, but a student stopped me at work and said he wanted to buy a kilt for his roommate and where could he get one. I gave him the web address of UK, Stillwater Kilts, USA Kilts and Freedom Kilts. Could be another kiltie soon!

Every time anyone wears the kilt in public he is promoting it. So wear your kilt often, & proudly.

There I was last night...new kilt, matching flashes and tie, freshly modified jacket all at the department soiree. Several comments and one wife saying she wanted to get her husband a kilt. What more can I say? Also impressed more than one by using my new sgian don't on more than a few bottles. Best of the season to all KILTIES.

I don't know about "advancing the cause", but in the morning I'm to pipe my annual concert at the State Veteran's Nursing Home; great pipes in the mess hall, then smallpipes for the shut-ins in the infirmary. One of the toughest gigs I play, when I see those old heroes start to cry.
Immediately thereafter, our local brewery is hosting their annual Christmas party; besides Christmas tunes, I'll pipe their march; "The Dunedin Brewery March".
Monday evening is the Legion Christmas party, where besides posting and retiring the colors, I'll pipe a concert with veteran pipers of the 48th Highlanders, Toronto Scottish, and Royal Highland Regiment, both dear friends and the best pipers I've ever had the privilege to march with. Hopefully, two of our former post commanders will be able to attend; one a Hurricane and Spitfire pilot, the other a highly decorated Chindit and SAS from the 42nd. Afterwards, we'll go next door and give the American Legion a tune or two.

Well, yesterday a male student showed up at my high school sporting an olive UK. As a preemptive strike I mentioned to the administrative team that there was nothing in the dress code prohibiting this and that the "disruptive" clause certainly didn't apply as he was sharply dressed. He left at day's end without incident, much to my relief.
This is the first kilted student I've seen in years. I choose not to wear kilts to school, but regularly appear kilted on workdays, the prom, Christmas parties, etc., so the faculty and administration knows that I'm an advocate, and senior enough not to be trifled with.

Imagine a kiltmaker with a sales force of enticingly clad attractive women roaming the streets to convince men to buy kilts, complimenting them on how masculine and handsome they look kilted, encouraging to just try one on over their pants then having them drop trou to feel the freedom like the UK vendors do...
I'd like to volunteer for that job.
