I'd go with Irish nat or Black Watch but it all depends on yr colouring/what your into as mentioned before. What have you got already? Are you after a contrasting kilt to that? Let me be that cat amongst the pigeons and suggest the saffron! Good luck.

This would make Kilt Numero Uno for me.

Acutally if I was to get any kilt from SWK based solely on looks, the Black Stewart gets my vote. I really like the pattern .. but they only come in Standard.

Of the ones you chose, I think I'd go with Black Watch over Wallace. It's a bit more subtle for a first kilt. That's one of the reasons I chose it.

Why not just grab two or even all three. Hey for $45 a kilt, it works out to about $130 for 3 kilts. I have heard better things about the standard than the econo, but the econo looks like a good starter. Based on Cavscout's logic though, why not have a good look at the Leatherneck tartan in the econo.

I like the Black Watch the best, with the Irish National a close second.

Black Stewart is a great looking kilt from SWK. Will definitely get one of those later.

I agree about the econmy kilts get the Wallace then get a Black Watch in heavy weight wool for Formal. Can't go wrong, what ever you get.

What about Black Stewart? It's one of the nicest tartans ever conceived.
