Hey KWS, I think that you'll have a hard time rolling while wearing a kilt. It's hard enough keeping a gi on. We've got hundreds and hundreds of hours on the mats, hardwood, and every other surface imaginable and not one of them would have been condusive to wearing a kilt. Check out our website and you'll see what we wear. http://www.arrestling.com/index.htm

Listen to what Jerry is saying. It doesn't behoove one to brag on one's abilities cuz there's ALWAYS someone better. Build your skills, keep quiet about them and take away something every time you roll.

Cool website! Looks like you offer some interesting material. Training in the deep water would really freak me out.

I was in charge of getting our school's modest Law Enforcement Ground Grappling course approved by the state for continuing education credit, I have helped teach a few courses over the last few months. My personal area of interest is restraint-related positional asphyxia issues. I really wish I had more time (and energy!) to train, I have way too many irons in the fire right now.

We steal from everyone and anyone. If we find something that looks approriate we'll try it out and see if it fits, usually painful as you know! Our State DT Coordinator really delved into postional asphyxia and Manic Exhaustive Syndrome. THere was a San Diego cop (Andy somebody or another) came up to one of our Master DT Instructor seminars several years ago who had an in-custody PA death. He developed a phenomenal restraint but I have seen it on the market so I'm not sure what happened to it.

    KWaS,

I practice Judo, and I wear a kilt, but not at the same time, so I don't know if I can help you. What kind of help could you want that already hasn't been offered in this thread some where. I've read this entire thread a couple of times. There is a lot of information here. So,....My advise to you is; take a deep breath, forget your the original poster, and carefully read and think about all the responses people have already made.

I can say that doing Martial arts for me is not a kilted event.
I feel much more at home in a Gi. I may get out the Bo or Chucks in the yard (kilted) for fun and an endless supply of practice. I prefer to train in the uniform designed for the type of training IE. sparring gi and gear, Trad.gi for forms and self defense systems , Sport Karate and tournaments, mma, kickboxing, continue or ground work in appropriate clothing Etc.
I also like to honour the Traditions of martial arts by wearing the approprate Gi for the art.

Huzzah! You know, one of the things I hate about message boards is the loss of tone and intonation when one is "talking" with friends. I now lift a glass to kiltman with a sword! Welcome aboard, my brother, and I applaud you for sticking around, and the apology.

As for Rigged's comment, well, practicing the marital arts in a kilt is . . . well, we don't have to go there, do we?
