The goth and punk scene are entirely different. Especially if we're talking about Paddy Rock. I'm huge into celtic punk/rock, and I feel no way connected to goths...unless, of course, if they happen to be Gordons...

Most of the goths I have known have expressed an interest in celtic culture when they see me wearing my kilt. They have, compared to other social groups, welcomed the kilt with no trouble at all.
I used to work at an arcade where I was dealing with younger people all the time, and many of them were goths. Before I got into my work uniform, I would walk into the building in my kilt. It usually got lots of positive attention.

I disagree, the goth culture spun off the punk culture, and all that spun off the rock culture. They all kinda go together. I'm punk/goth leaning more towards the punk side of it. My g/f is goth. I don't wear my kilt for either reason. I don't even like the kilt/skirts that are marketed for the goths. But than I'm more old school goth in the way I dress. I don't do the whole hot topic type of clothing. About the only make-up I will wear is black nail polish nd sometimes eyeliner but that crap hard to get off so I dont wear it often.

Do Goths wear kilts? Yes.
I am wearing a Bauhaus t-shirt and a utilikilt right now. I also just ordered a Black Leather Kilt. So what do you think
When I go to Doolin's for kilts night, people always wonder whether I am wearing anything underneath and why I wear a kilt. When I go to Goth nights, people don't say anything because it is not shocking to see a man in kilt.
Being a Goth is more than just wearing all black. It is about attitude and out look in life. Just because I like Leather, that doesn't mean the next goth is going to wear leather as well. In fact some goths don't wear leather. Goths are not antisocial, we just look at life from a different point of view. Just because I like gothic music, clothing style and goth girls, people tend me think I am werid or need to grow up. I am who I am. I am proud of it.
I have been to many goth clubs in North America, and I have yet to see a fight broke out. We are just a peaceful group of people who enjoy and see things that most main stream people don't see.

What I understand of the goth culture, I don't like it. It seems dark and looks evil, even if it isn't.
As kiltwearers we are all concerned about the look or image we project.
Having said that, the kilt is SO versatile that you can make it look anything you want.
If goth is your thing, you can dress it to suit.
I admit being a wee bit worried my black hemp kilt would look goth, or give that image. I would rather cut a finger off than project that image. However, after wearing it for some months now I don't think there's any problem with a black kilt. It's all about how you wear it.

With all that white stuff outside for the second day running I have donned my black kilt and a black t shirt and black socks for the day.
I still don't feel very goth but it's cheering me up as I can't go anywhere!

Graham, you suprise me. A bit. As a kilt wearer, I thought you'd be more aware of looking past outward appearances and seeing people for what they are inside... We do not like people judging us for how we look, no? We struggle for acceptance, no?
There are a lot of people who do bad things whilst kilted... Do we judge all kilt wearers by the actions of a few? Not all goths are like Marilyn Manson. Goths are not evil, just theatrical and dramatic. Infact there are even Christian Goth movements, people who dress that way so they can be "all things to all men" and reach out to people.
And just like Goths, there are good kilt wearers and bad kilt wearers. Shall all of us be held accountable for the actions of a few bad apples? Should anybody that is part of some grouping or collection of people and like minded souls?
Love one another. Be good to one another. Be ye kind (kilted) and of good cheer.

Dread, there is a difference between judging and expressing a preference or dislike, which is my right.
I dislike country and western music, blues, and vegemite too, but others like it, so that's up to them.
Judging (at least in the Biblical sense) is condemning. That is not what I am doing, nor have the right to do.
Neither do my opinions have anything to do with loving or not loving the individual. I love folk regardless of what they wear. Heck, I even love people who wear TROUSERS!!!!!
now that's unconditional love
