They're really spectacular until you sit down... I can't tell you how many holes I've put in my shirts with those damned horns!

my first kilt is on order (Lamont Ancient)...yaaaaa!! time to get accesorized.
I was told I need to make my first sporran from an animal that I HUNT & KILL myself. I was also told the traditional first critter sporran should be a Snipe....???
Any good techniques you experts know for catching these Snipes, please advise this newbie

And maybe you could wear a Foobird feather in your hatband.

My sentiments exactly. I think it would be a very appealing addition to the right tartan kilt. Got any pics?

I made a sporran from the front right paw of a 65" black bear, complete with the claws and that definately starts a lot of conversations, some good and some not so good.

Zercool- The black calf can be found right here. (http://www.sportkilt.com/departments...de-sporran.cfm)
IEScotsman- Sadly, still no pics. (I promise I'm working on solving that.) But it does look good with the Black Watch tartan. And it's softer than you'd think. I found my self sitting in a Taco Bell stroking it.

I noticed a few comments about the issue of water resistance.
Not to point out the blaringly obvious, but if the weather is bad enough to damage a non-water resistant sporran, it is likely to seriously damage the rest of one's clothes...LIKE THE KILT!!!!!!
Personally, I am not really into sporrans that actually look like dead animals, but that's just me. I prefer my one-and-only freelander sporran which holds up extremely well while skiing in colorado powder.
