I saw it on a transcontinental flight (so not the best quality picture or sound), but was still hugely impressed!
Looking forward to the DVD's release...

Well at the time of her execution she had aged considerably and her real hair had turned grey but maybe the younger Mary could be a problem for her.

You must also be careful of certain DVDs, made by companies that are stooges of the RIAA... There are some DVDs out there reportedly that when you place them in your DVD player will reset the firmware and the region to where they should be. This is actually a criminal act, sort of like Sony's Rootkit fiasco. Funny, the RIAA has no problem breaking the law and violating your rights, but who can hold them accountable?
Some of the new Disney DVDs now actually jack your firmware and make it impossible to skip past or fast forward past the endless previews of Disney films. Sort of like how you can skip or fast forward the anti piracy warning screens.
Edit, sorry Mike. This posted and then I saw your warning. Maybe this can be shaved off somehow and this DVD discussion could be moved in to a new thread if the mods have that power? Thanks in advance.

Well its only a small 48 seat cinema which gets one film per week; the big city cinemas have multi screens where they can show anything up to a dozen different films in the one day and they always get the new films long before we get to see them out here in the more rural areas. Not wishing to stray the thread off topic again but I believe strongly that in this age of equal rights and social inclusion film companies should be compelled to release films on DVD on the same day they are first released to cinemas.

I'm sorry I'm late getting to this thread - I hoped The Queen would be good but I was thrilled at just how good the movie turned out to be. Its a very powerful and moving portrait - Helen Mirren's performance is top notch. The flash of kilts and beauty of the area near Balmoral and a proud "Monarch of the Glen" really are the icing on a very tasty cake!
