Welcome aboard,
If its cheap you want, check out SportKilt
http://www.sportkilt.com/departments....cfm?afid=1003
They have the tartan. Just be sure to pay for the pleats, custom length, belt loops. The inexpensive model is just gathered like a skirt, not pleated. And first thing when you get it take off the logo.
But hey, for your clan tartan one should save up for a hand sewn tradtitional out of 16 oz Strome wool.
Or, one of each....

That's definitely permitted. I've seen such discussions in the Heraldry and Tartans sub-forum, but I would imagine that the General Kilt Talk forum would work too.
Mods?? Where do you want it?
It don't mean a thing, if you aint got that swing!!

Welcome Macgregor from one of the FL rabble. Wher ein the sunshine state do you call home? We are in the Tampa Bay area, with frequent visits to family in southwest FL (Ft. Myers), and the East Coast (Melbourne). If you are close, we can do a kilt night.
And owning 2 of Matt's kilts, I would highly recommend him. Of course, I also own 4 USAK's, so I can recommend Rocky and Kelly as well. And there are the 3 SWK's, so obviously Jerry is great to deal with too. And Jeff of PK was a great guy, I have 2 of his. Still waiting to buy from RKilts, FreedomKilts, and CCK, but they are on my list! Hmm, you think I have too many kilts?

Well, I posted a thread at about 6 or so with all the particulars in the kilt advice forum, but I can't seem to see it...anyhow, I think that Matt's may be a bit too rich for my blood.
I am from the Jacksonville area, so I'm a bit north of you. We've just had our Highland Games this past weekend, quite a fun event! : )

Hi MacG
I`m new too, haven`t posted my introductory message yetbut may be able to help you. Fraser and Kirkbright weaving Co are selling 16oz double width MacGregor Modern tartan fabric for cdn$16 per meter. It works out at about US$75 including postage for 4 meters. Then all you need is a kilt maker. Hope this helps.
