    Chaplain,

I'd like to share this link with you...it's to the Coast Guard Auxiliary Knowledge base. This specific link pertains to the USCG Tartan and Pipe Band.

Just in case you Coasties missed it the LL Bean Coast Guard tartan shirts are now on sale for $29.95 down from $40 something depending on regular or tall size

They look really sharp with a solid color kilt.

The Jarhead, Dogface, Swabie, and Zoomie tartans are also on sale there.

Great news all around (saving souls, tartans, shirts!), Thanks Chaplain, Dane, and Riverkilt. I might need to sign off and go to LL Bean's site!

I too, ordered a USCG Tartan sport kilt (for women) and as someone who has the first run in wool, I am very impressed with the match in terms of the intensity of the blue. It is a perfect match to my wool kilted skirt. I bought the sport kilt because there are some Highland Games where the combination of weight and length of my wool kilted skirt are enough to make me melt. We attend many Highland Games throughout New England; it'll be nice to have a choice!

Thank you, too, for sharing about LL Bean's Americana shirts being on sale. I have a shirt as well that I wear with jeans and it's nice that people are starting to notice that it is the Coast Guard tartan. That was the reason for the project initially.

Remember, Tim, if you compete, I hope you get someone to take a pic!

In the meantime, I will have to take a picture of my husband's sword case. We used some of our tartan material to line it; it looks sharp.

Wow! Can't believe I missed this thread. Congratulations on joining the CG Auxilliary from from a Coxswain in the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary. Don't know if it's been posted before but here's a link I came across long ago about converting a uniform jacket to a kilt jacket.
