2. CC, I find when pleating to the Sett that there are two helpfull tools.
One is the extra piece of fabric from the middle of your Tartan.
I use it to hold up against the pleats to insure my Sett size remains the same.
The second tool is a plastic, see-thru ruler which I put a piece of masking tape on and mark out the pleat width. One mark for each pleat and enough marks so that they are wider than the Sett.
I then mark my pleats by putting the first mark on the same part of the Sett pattern and then mark the next pleat by using the second mark. The third pleat by using the third mark and so on.
I'm not an expert in working with Tartan but this system works for my engineering mind.
