Making one totally out of bone is not that big a deal, other than time. The ones I've seen were made out of buffalo ribs. The end that attached to the spine was the end of the handle. The blade is roughed out from the rib. The whole thing is heat hardened, either fire, boiling in water, or boiling in oil. Then the final edge is ground, the blade polished, and the handle wrapped with leather. The whole thing has a slight curve but that makes the handle easier to grap and go. Got me in the mood to create again.

Tony
