I guess, having made two kilts now, that if you want a custom kilt it will take a while. I take about 3 weeks just to put the kilt together. Of course, I have a day job and can only work on it a few evenings a week and on weekends when not out playing and such. Add the pressing and drying time... I guess you could order one on ebay, but you won't get the custom fit.

Umm, hate to mention this, but Rocky can hook you up pretty quickly.
Rush Fee
$35.00
Our backorder time on custom kilts typically runs between 6 and 8 weeks. If you need your kilt sooner than that, please add the "rush fee" to your cart (the fee covers our overtime costs). We'll rush the order and have your kilt out the door within 2 weeks.

I LOVE that tartan. The MacQuarrie tartan has been on my list for a while. Matt Newsome wears one as seen in many of his pictures. The elastic thing has been what always turned me away from the Sportkilts. They have a couple of tartans I really like... but I just can't get past that. You are going to love your USA Kilt. I have three of Rocky's (USAK) casual models and love them. Enjoy. Great to have you aboard.

Bradley
Hey Bradley, I LOVE that henderson tartan in your photo album, and that AWESOME belt and buckle. Where did you buy that kilt? Can I say - you look stylish as hell and look cool as heck in all of your kilts. I want to grow up and be like you!!! You rock!

Welcome! And you will love the USAK! Rocky and Kelly do a great job.
As for the "need" for a sporran, I regularly go out without one, especially when hiking and walking the dog. I have been looking for a belt pack to carry the necessities for those times. The sporran does complete the "look", but really is not that comfortable when doing any kind of serious activity, including brisk walking. And really, if they don't recognize it as a kilt, especially when made from a tartan fabric, the sporran is not going to change their minds.

Welcome aboard from another MacDonell of Glengarry descendant.
It's obvious that you're going to be an enthusiastic kiltie! Hey.....I need a haircut...I wonder how long it would take to get to Chesapeake? (and what days does that gorgeous lassie work?? )
Here's a photo I took (last December) of our old home place...Invergarry Castle, home of the Glengarry MacDonells. It's a bit of a fixer-upper and as you can see it's in the process of being stabilized after being blown up back in the 1700's. (click the pic)

funny!
hilarious, that "lassie" works tuesday-saturday.. I actually have a client that drives us from Raleigh/Durham every 4 weeks or so! Not unheard of. She (and many of my other stylists) are sure nice to look at during those haircuts (unless you actually want a haircut by one of them!)..
Awesome looking castle - Thanks for the welcoming, great to find another USA Donald (and even a Glengarry!). Stay in touch for sure.. let's chat.

I love the "look" of the stillwater kilts, but they are WAAAAAY long.. I love the lamont weathered tartan, but they don't have it in my size it doesn't look like.... I hate to have to worry about hemming them

Great kilt! You already know how to wear it well.

Thanks kindly for the kind words, Ron. The Henderson kilt in my photo album (there are two.) I assume you are asking about the Henderson "weathered" kilt? It's the brown one, whereas the other (ancient) is green based. Anyhow, I had that kilt custom sewn for me by Mr. Matt Newsome. It's a 4 yard box pleat made from 16 oz. Strome wool from Lochcarron. It's my pride and joy. Glad you like it so much. If you're willing to wait a few months and spend a few hundred, you just can't go wrong with one of his kilts. Feel free to add me on any of the Messenger clients up in the right corner of this frame (if you use any of those.)
