The difference between a Short, Regular, and Long fitting jacket is primarily in the sleeve length. A Short will have sleeves 1" shorter than Regular. A Long will be 1" longer in the sleeves. I don't think that this would have fixed the amount of shirt showing under the jacket.

It is possible that you are wearing the kilt beneath your natural waist. It's hard to tell from the pics, but you look like you could be pretty high waisted. The kilt should rest on the top of your hipbone, which means the top of the kilt should be just below the bottom of your rib cage.
yeah, by that time the kilt had moved from the top of the hipbone, to just hanging onto it...

Shirts may be different. For instance, I own a shirt that is labelled "tall" in terms of size, and it is much longer in the waist, which helps it stay tucked into your pants (or kilt!) for us tall guys. The sleeves may be a bit longer than norm, but to be honest I didn't even check as it was a short sleeved shirt.

Looking sharp, there! Kilt for prom certainly makes you stick out in a positive manner

Sure as h*** beats my prom-gear from 1982: white tux, white shiny shoes and pink bowtie/cumberband (even though it was the thing then...)

    What a smashing couple

    Skweres,

As predicted, you look great. With your young lady in the dark formal, you really complement each other.

I assumed the shirt exposure was a side effect of dancing. :-) Well done, congratulations to both of you.

A big thumbs up to you for having the cajones to be yourself. Not many HS kids are willing to do that. I applaud you. As far as the kilt/shirt thing that's been brought up. I'm thinking that the kilt length is not correct. Judging from where it touches your knee to wear the belt is (I can't imagine there was 3 or 4 inches of kilt above the belt) it definitely is too short. Looking back I notice there are more than the one picture in that album. It looks as though you probably ordered the kilt to be worn on the hips, not the waist. That style may work for some contemporaries, but paired with a kilt jacket it doesn't work all so well.

no, it was a little low, my knee was bent out so the kilt came up a little, the kilt was 3 inches or so too low at the time the picture was taken
