    hear in scotland most people wear kilts for formal ocasions only !

    but I also like to wear kilts to party's etc

    To me a kilt even a casual looks more dressed up that jeans or pants ever have but that is just my opinion and well im partial so ......

    At least your dad thinks the kilt is ok sometimes. I have family who think they are in appropriate all the time.

    I live in the UK and kilts are virtually unknown outside of wedding hire shops, you either hire a suit or a kilt and prince charles jacket, sgian dubh and a furry sporran, and it's a nonsense, It's a great bit of kit, versatile and comfortable, which can be dressed 'up' or 'down' depending upon the circumstances

    You could always argue that modern emancipated times don't allow you as much pants as they used to.
