Oh yes! That is one gorgeous set of pleats.
Is that a dragon kilt pin?
One can hardly go wrong with a dragon. I don't know if I'll warm up to the ysgrepan (or "full mask Lhasa Apso"), but I'd like a dragon on my sporran, even if I didn't have a Welsh godfather.

Wow! Kilted, a proud daddy, and getting ready to move. Good news all the way around, that's a wicked sharp looking tartan. Originally, I thought that the asymmetric Welsh tartans looked funny, but they're growing on me.

Yup, that's a dragon kilt pin....courtesy a nice present from my mother in law from kiltstore.net...one of our sponsors.
Kid Cossack, I hadn't noticed the asymmetry until you mentioned it, but i see what you mean; and it is rather cool. Perhaps it's because Wales is so far out on one side of Great Britain that the Welsh Tartan Centre decided to match their tartans to the geography....that's my theory and I am sticking to it.

Oh boy! That is one beautiful tartan and kilt, Ozone. Congratulations on your purchase.
I was in the Cardiff branch of the Wales Tartan Centre two weeks ago and was measured for another cilt (I already have the Brithwe Dewi Sant cilt from there). This time I selected the Edwards tartan in memory of my maternal grandmother, but I came away with samples of two other tartans which I liked so much; one is the Pride of Wales (!) and the other, the Country of Powys which is gorgeous.
Well done,

Wonderful expression on your son's face ozone - clearly he likes the tartan and is looking forward to one of his own!
As to the asymmetry, the topography of many parts of Wales isn't dissimilar to many parts of Scotland but clearly one of the ideas behind the designs was to be different and adding the Dragon (and or St David's Cross) also has that effect.
I'm sure there will be more tartans to come, the main Welsh names have been covered, but area tartans are sparse. There is only the County of Powys (Brithwe Sir Powis) at present that I am aware of.
And thanks for the "gear" photo. I'm intrigued by the emblem on the flap of the sporran as the oblique angle doesn't show the detail - what is it?

That's a very, very nice tartan. And you wear it well.
And your son really is adorable.
Congratulations on all of it.

Oh a sidebar, Trefor---I think at first I didn't like the asymmetry just because it was something new. Kind of like the idea of a denim kilt, or a box pleat----if it doesn't conform to what I expect, I'll be cautious. I really like the way they maintain the "similar, but different" theme. In fact I picked up some asymmetric tartan worsted wool, and am toying with the idea of having a X kilt done up in it. Go Wales!

McClef, there's no emblem on the sporran. It's one of the fantastic sporrans from Freelander sporrans. So, it's just stag horn.
The belt buckle is one of those with 3 celtic horses intertwined.
