Many thanks Ham!

Everyone who applied in advance for their entry programmes to The Gathering will probably have received an E-mail advising that further delays at the printers (and a possible postal workers strike), has caused a change of plan. The programmes will NOT now be mailed out and we must collect them at the entry gate. What is not stated, but is on their website ( http://www.harpenden-lions.co.uk/highland-gathering.php ), is that you should take your PayPal receipt together with the Credit Card used for the transaction, and present them at the gate. One presumes that they might be refunding the postal charge, although that is not stated either!
'X Marks the Scot' Meeting point
Since we are not able to see a plan of the Gathering site in Rothamsted Park until we get our hands on te programmes, I am suggesting that we all meet up at the same spot as last year. That is, on the hill which overlooks the Main Arena (to the left of the arena as you approach it from the entry gate). I will be there within minutes of 10.00am, and Derek is bringing his beautiful fretwork 'X Marks the Scot.com' sign - so look out for that. Since there is little or no shelter from the weather in the park, I would suggest also that some form of protection from inclement weather would be a good idea, especially if current weather conditions prevail until 8th July!!
I am off to Oban, via The Ferintosh in Dumfries, on Thursday and so will be off-line until 4th July. If there are any further developments regarding The Harpenden Gathering, I will post here again then. If not - see you all at The Gathering!

I deleted my Paypal receipt when the lady first e-mailed me to confirm that she had received payment. Surely they ought to have a record of who has paid in advance and photo ID should be sufficient.

If you log in to your paypal account and go to recent transactions, find the payment to Harpenden Lions Club, click on details and you can reprint your receipt.
I do agree with you though, that they should have records. Alternatively, why didn't they simply mail all online purchasers an entry voucher?

Thanks, Martin, done that and printed it off.
Looking forward to meeting you, Martin, along with the others.
If my travel arrangements go to plan I should arrive shortly after 11am

Looking forward to meeting you also. This will be my first 'X marks' outing.
By the way, I have just checked the BBC's 5-day forecast for the Harpenden area and it's looking good for Sunday. 21 degrees and sunny!
Don't quote me on that though!!

Hi everyone!
Just a quick note to say, "Looking forward to seeing you at Harpenden on Sunday!"
I have heard from Alan that he is unable to join us after all, which is a shame, but we should still be about ten in number. Those I am expecting to meet are:
David (Freelander) with his wife, Ellie, and two children,
Alex,
Martin,
Derek, his wife Christine, plus son and daughter-in-law,
Dave W and his wife, Pauline,
Jim,
and yours truly
Of course, the more that can make it, the better so, all you Greater Londoners in particular, and anyone else who fancies a day in the Scottish Highlands (but in Hertfordshire), come and join us.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday - hope I can find you in the crowd.
If my travel arrangements work to plan (Car to Newcastle, 'plane to Stansted, bus to Luton then train to Harpenden) I should arrive at Harpenden Railway Station at 11am and will find my way to the park from there.
