So, Scottishrebel: did you reach any conclusions?
Either of the 2 SWK options would be nice additions to the wardrobe, if the 24-inch length works for you. What length SK are you wearing?
That Loch Ness tartan looks nice BTW. Would the Nightstalker grey-on-black be too similar? Majdan posted a really nice looking photo of that kilt.

I got one on Ebay from Kiltmart about $50 if I remember rightly. Quite passable.

Riverkilt,
I read more between the lines with Roberts reply. I may be wrong but there may be more to his post than is first obvious. If I read him right I agree with him as we have had this conversation on a few occasions. I touched on the topic in my post.
I'll say no more!

I got a very good black kilt on ebay from UK dealer "Fredonline321" which is around your price mark- try this link - this is a size 42 but there are others in his ebay shop.

Fredonline321 NO WAY!!
Sorry, but in deference to BEVERLONIAN I purchased a kilt from Fredonline321 and it came on time BUT. It was supposed to be a 36 inch waist and the attached buckles did cinch up as a 36 ". However, there is about a 3+ inch gap on the right side between where the fringe of the outer apron stops and the first pleat of the right side. It looks like &%@#. I have been thinking of trying to unload it via the city newspaper to some local Schemendrick. I wouldn't have the guts to try to peddle it to anyone in this group. It is really a 34' that was fitted with buckles to appear like a 36" and my wife says "the seams look like they were sewed by a kindergardener with no experience".

So, Panache, tell us all....
Were you a fencer before you were kilted or kilted before you began fencing?
And, of course, have you ever fenced while kilting? For fun or else?
