Thursday is bad (playhouse tickets). Wed would be good, or probably Fri.

Really crappy event. I had it happen to me once. Leaves a horrible 'violated' feeling, plus a sense of suspicion - in case it was someone known to you.
I never leave money in the bedroom now. Guess your proposed new kilt will have to wait a little longer (THAT'S the REAL horror!!!!)

    Rex,

You have my every sympathy - a traumatic experience indeed.

About eleven years ago, when I was still working, my home was violated in a similar manner. Fortunately, I came home and disturbed the b------s but, by the time I had garaged the car and unlocked the back door, they had escaped though a window. The contents of the house were entirely turned upside down (but nothing broken or desecrated). They abandoned carrier bags they had filled ready to take away and all I actually lost was a pair of engraved silver-gilt cuff-links which my boss had given me two weeks previously to mark my 30 years with his Company! However, it took me weeks to get the place sorted and cleaned! I felt that every room was dirty and I think I washed and scrubbed just about everything!

The horse having bolted from the stable, I now have a very efficient alarm system installed - and security lights too.

Again, my thoughts are with you.

At least you were visited by a professional - someone simply wanting to take something to sell and pick up any easily available cash - not some true low life who trashed the whole place with paint, cooking oil or worse.

Sometimes you've got to take the attitude that it could have been much worse, and you actually got away with something.

Shame about the kilt money though - maybe you could get a loan to make the place more burglar proof and save a bit by doing the work yourself?

As Ozman said, it leaves one feeling violated. I've been through it too - I had finally pocketed a little bit of money from the last band I played in and they got it plus some family jewelry that was passed down to my wife. I hate it for you pal but I'm glad you're okay. Hang in there!
