I'm a little late on this one, but I do wish you well.
Can't wait to hear the comments when you get home this evening. I suspect they'll be quite positive, as they usually are.

A little while after I started wearing a kilt to work (food service in a dorm cafeteria), my supervisor told me she really liked it when I wore it, because it showed that they were dedicated to diversity in the workplace.
The only reason I don't wear it all the time is because I only have one.
Good luck, I am sure it is going well for you.
Matt!

I'm late too but good luck, I can't wait to hear what was said. Being military I can never wear a kilt to work, maybe if I learn to pipe and petition to start a pipe band........ hmmmmmm. Any pipe instructors in Virginia??? ;)

Good luck. I wore my kilt to work today as well, but I dressed it up with a balmoral and a highland shirt. I don't mind calling it a costume because, with the accessories, it does look costumey. Responses have been very positive.
I may wear a kilt with something more modern on St. Patty's Day, though.

There are a number of Pipe Bands in Virginia. I know there's a Williamsburg Pipe Band, which I'm thinking of joining. They offer free lessons (just need a practice chanter) and they recently split with other members (It used to be called the Strath James Pipe Band); I think that means that they won't be picky, if you have no musical talent...that's an important consideration for me, at least.
Wearing my kilt today someone made a comment along the lines of "well, it is halloween, let him wear a skirt". Someone else assumed I work for Colonial Williamsburg, because of how I was dressed...Hope you have better luck!
