That is a excellent choice and a very nice kilt, of course I am partial to the Gordon tartan. I have also been looking at the 22oz. from wpg and it is good to hear a review.

Warhoover - The material is very coarse and 'scratchy' but that's part of the fun of wearing it. Billy Connolly complained of this when he wore an old kilt during the filming of 'Mrs. Brown'. He said he was glad to take it off at the end of filming. I love the feel of a heavy kilt, with the pleats 'swinging' behind me, it's a fantastic sensation. However, I have to admit that this kilt is almost too heavy! I certainly wouldn't dream of wearing it to a fomal function, it's far too rough looking for that. No, this one is purly for outdoor winter wear. In fact, after wearing it for most of the day yesterday I tried on one of my 16oz Lochcarron Strome kilts which felt really light, a very strange sensation!
Ron - Yes I do like those battle blouses and one is on my wish list (along with one of those trench coats!). The trouble is that every time I get a bit of money together I go and spend it on a new kilt!. Last summer I got the money together to buy a new tweed Argyle jacket off ebay. The seller emailed to say that he hadn't got my size but would get one made for me with the option of buying it when it was ready. Then Argyle Kilts & Bagpipes ran an ebay auction offering a kilt with a starting bid of £185 (extra £40 for a heavyweight). I made a bid and won the auction, so the jacket had to go on the 'back burner' for a while.

If I could only wear one type of kilt for the rest of my life, it would be the type of kilts that are sold at WPG. I bought the box-pleated Seaforth McKenzie and I wear it almost every day, everywhere I go. If I wasn't going to be burned like a Viking upon my death, I'd be buried in this kilt.

Hey Freddie,
Don't forget to put the Cameron Black and Red from House of Edgar's Old and Rare Collection on your wish list.

I got my 22 oz Black Watch indirectly from WPG. My piper buddy bought it, then decided he needed the cash and immediately sold it to me. I love the thing. The only thing about it that I'm concerned about is how long the buckles will last.

The buckles on both my WPG kilts are holding up very well. I have the Black Watch and Cameron and here in snow country I wear them quite a bit.
