    "troll for the ignorant"

I love it!! They do seem to leap at the bait.

    Traditional vs Alternative Kilts

If you lined up an African in a dashiki(sp?), Hindu, Muslim, Thibetan Monk, Geisha, Tahitian in a grass skirt, Bavarian in Leiderhosen(sp?), and a chap in a full dress Highland outfit, I wonder which one would be considered "wierd"? Anyone who finds an authentic ethnic outfit wierd is a moron. I only wear traditional tartans and sporrans, and my reactions are overwhelmingly positive. I wonder if the alternative kilt variations are eliciting negative comments more than the traditional? Can anyone who wears both shed some light?
    Cheers!

I think you'd want an especially light weight fabric...perhaps in a lovely shade of red?!

Anyone who frequents the University of Michigan diag knows about the "Diag Preacher." He's one of those extremists who has, to put it nicely, his own unique interpretation of the Bible. He called me out telling me I would be going to hell for wearing a kilt. I started talking about the clergy tartan, and he replied that kilted priests were going to hell all the same.

I decided to stop talking to him.

On one hand, yeah, people get crazy ideas, and they are pretty dumb. Then again, I also get crazy ideas, and I'm pretty dumb too, let alone ignorant. In the end, the best I can think to do is enjoy the show.

It takes A LOT of work not to be ignorant as proven by all the schooling we have to go to through our lives (or do we have to, but we do it anyway?) The number of books we read about everything. People say computers are dumb machines, but think of it this way...the computer does exactly what you told it to do the first time you told it to do it. Right or wrong results, it did do what you told it to do. How many people do you meet in your day that can respond that way. "Didn't I give you a twenty, so my change should be $15.", "You were supposed to be here between 12 and 3 and it's now 6", "I said a trim, not a shave", "I asked for no onions", ...

The increased popularity of self check-out lines and credit card/ATM payment features is further evidence that though people consider computers to be "dumb machines" we still would prefer to deal with a dumb machine than a ignorant human.

I've simply learned that if I meet someone who does not say something ignorant right off the bat, I have met a hardworking human who has made an effort not to be as ignorant as they were yesterday.

How... You pulled that right out of my head. On my lunch breaks, I typically sit and read. I have recently read almost 2000 pages on the Vikings and the Dark ages. I have coworkers asking me "Are you in school?" "Well then... why would you be reading on your break?" My response- for personal edification. I think that work confuses them all the more.

So God doesn't want free thinking, entelligent individuals and chooses to surround himself with closed minded, ignorant people? That seems counterintuitive..

I get about the same reaction to my black AK as I do to my trad kilts. There are people who just don't like "plaid" and would wear a solid kilt- they just don't know that the things exist.

    Wow...........

You know, one could argue doctrine until blue in the face with people. Good on you for knowing to walk away. Hearing that you did so made me smile.

    Cheers and blessings
