I am never warm. That could almost be a picture of Yeti and I if you photoshopped our faces in... and wedding rings.

At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

Oh no we are not married, which is why Yeti can't say his wife is cold... sorry, I was unclear.

My response is, "Are you kidding? I've got about six or seven yards of fabric wrapped around my butt, heavy wool socks almost to my knees and heat rises. I need the knee exposure to keep from overheating." Usually that gets a laugh and we're on our way.
If they outlaw guns, can we go back to using swords?

I think that's my favorite question and it seems like I get it all the time. My usual response is a blank stare followed by "Not since I stopped wearing pants."

I get this all the time, though often they are referring to the fact that I am wearing a t-shirt and sandals when it is well below freezing. When they do specifically mention the kilt, I usually explain that a heavyweight kilt (I only wear light kilts) is warmer than pants, the mitten effect, and mention the number of people who wear kilts in alaska.
I do often get questions about the lower half of my legs, as I don't wear hose. To that I can only say that I am a freak.

The other day a girl in a skirt asked me that. I looked at her skirt, and then at her, and then very pointedly at her skirt again, and then her, but with raised eyebrows. She laughed and said never mind.
I'm partial to the "mittens are warmer than gloves, kilts are warmer than pants" response usually, though.

When asked if I'm cold, I tell people about the mitten effect that a kilt has. I had stopped at the bank to make a deposit with the temperature in single digits. I woman behind me said, "You must be absolutely freezing." I told her that I was actually quite comfortable and explained how a kilt can actually be warmer than pants. I was wearing a 5 yd 16 oz wool kilt and let her feel the thickness of the pleats in the back. She was amazed.

It was -5° F when we were leaving work Saturday morning. I got the inevitable "Don't your knees get cold?" I replied, "No, they don't. Do you know how many sheep it takes to make all the wool I'm wearing in my hose, kilt and sweater?"
