My big toes are shorter than the next ones so I guess I can claim to be a Celt.
What I have also been told is that this condition "leads to over pronation" which seems to mean I am liable to walk on the outer edge of my feet and this habit has led to pain and discomfort in my old age. I now wear orthotic insoles to try to correct this and it is certainly an improvement if not a full cure.
So as you revel in your celtishness ... look out for the down side too

Doesn't current scholarship maintain that the "Celts" were not a homogeneous ethnic group, but rather a variety of peoples spread across Europe and the British Isles who shared a language grouping and related culture?
Anyhow, my big toe is shorter than my second....

Please please stop checking - put the shoes back on - the fog the fog is growing green the cattle are dying. The toe may be the same size, you may be able to open bottles with your feet but the smell the smell

My big toe is slightly shorter then the second one. I have prehensile monkey toes as well I'm afraid. My second toe is the same size as my little finger!

My toes are the same length, my family is rife with redheads, and I know, through genealogy research, that both sides of my family are almost 100% "celtic", Scottish from my mothers side, Irish from my father's side, with a smattering of French and native American on my father's side.

I do not have Celtic toes; But of course knowing how many different groups invaded the West Coast of Britain, especially Cornwall, Lord know WHAT genes I have intermingled!
However, to remedy the situation I shall now get out my chainsaw and get those toes even!

I was not a Celt until that darn lawn mower incident...
Equal length here, tinge of red in the summer (being replaced by a tinge of grey). Always thought my ancestry was Norman but I am 1/4 Gypsy. Alas narrow feet like my physique (aerodynamically & hydro-dynamically perfect I tell you).

Paragraph 7:
" Because the so-called Celtic toe can disappear after many
generations of intermarriage, it is not a necessary condition to having a Celtic
ancestor, but it is a sufficient one: if a person has the Celtic toe, he or she
is almost certain to be of Celtic descent."
So I'm wondering. If an individual doesn't have this condition & you can positively trace your line to Scotland / Ireland then does this mean it has been "bred out" of your line?
Or does it mean that perhaps your line is more Norse / Norman / or Pict?

If it helps with you being from Oz, I can guess with some certainty that you are descended from criminals, possibly Celtic criminals!
