Somehow I missed this thread before. My thoughts are with you and your wife.

My mother broke her hip a few years ago and had a partial replacement, and made a full and speedy recovery. I know her advice to your wife would be "Do what the phsyical therapist tells you to do and do your exercises every day."

Yes, I missed this before and wanted to send my wishes for a speedy recovery! I'm so glad the sun set that way.

And to echo the sentiment of telling our beloved ones often how we feel about them.

I'm so glad to hear that she is O.K. And glad she has such a supportive husband and dog to see her through!

    Update

First of all I must thank all of You for all the kind words.

I have to make a correction. I'm a norwegian and english is not my first language allthough I think I can get by all right.
I wrote that my wife broke her hipbone. As I've come to understand the right word is pelvis - so she broke that in two places, but she was lucky in that there wasn't any additional internal injuries.

She's coming home on friday (There will be a celebration of course - but no dancing).

The doctors say she'll allmost certainly will be allright and back to speed in 3 - 4 months, and we can carry on planning our two week hike in France in late august.

...skidded on ice, went off a bridge into a river.

You are a VERY lucky family in that "all" she has is a broken hip.

Best wishes to her and her recovery and yes they can do wonders with orthopedics these days.

Keep us posted on how she's doing.
