In that thread you'll see me wearing a "bum bag" 'round the front as a sort of contemporary sporran. It works great.
With a traditional kilt, wear a traditional sporran. With a contemporary kilt, wear whatever you want!

You can do as you please in regard to the fanny pack or the sporran. I only care about such rules when it comes to the formal (what used to be semi-formal) dress and when I pipe. HOWEVER, if you wear something other than a sporran or a period pouch, some may not recognize your garment as a kilt, but as a skirt.

Well I wore the "F" pack all day and I have decided since I can not loosen it enough to ride comfortable lower to buy a sporran. If I loose weight then I lose this great Alphakilt, so I'll head down to Kiltmart wednesday and check out what they have.

Might I recommend one of these. They are quite spacious and inexpensive. As an added bonus you might get it before you get to Kiltmart. They have three seperate compartments so finding stuff is as easy as a fannypack. You could search nightstalker sporran here on X Marks for the rave reviews.

Sporrans for me, no fanny packs. They don't look cool even on pants!
