That's what my wife says as well. I love her to death for it.

As of Oct 7 last fall I have been married for fourty years.
"To the same lady I might add."
An never in those years has she ever told me not to wear anything, and nor I her.
Oh she has asked if something looks OK on her,and what I thought about it,and I have asked the same of her.
Gaining respect by giving in to what the other wants is not true love.
Marriage is giving not taking, and perhaps thats why so many marriges fail.
It has to be equal both ways. You give me my space and I'll give you yours.
My wife would no more think of telling me not to wear my kilts than I would telling her not to wear jeans.

Today is my anniversary, 13 years (feels like 30). We were standing around the kitchen, I was playing with the new puppy and I said to him "just wait until spring, I'll put on my kilt and take you to the park". Then I turned to my wife and said "Ya know, if I new the effect of puppies and kilts twenty years ago, I needn't have settled for you". "That's not very nice" was the response.
"What are you talking about, you think you settled for me also"
It must have taken her five minutes to be able to say "No I didn't" without breaking out laughing.
Just the way we've always been, but to her credit she's now starting to call my kilts - "Kilts". Keep the humour.

What a great answer!

Slow but sure wins the race. Don't tell her what to wear, and don't ask for permission when you strap on a kilt. Just do it. I really don't think she will leave you for the sake of a piece of clothing.

Welcome to my world. My best friend and his wife expect me to wear a kilt because I they think that it shows that I am comfortable with myself. However, my wife does not see it that way.

I read somewhere (don't remember where) that most women love to see a man in a kilt...just not THEIR man! Probably similar to the recent findings that for a plaything a woman wants the muscled, rugged, good-looking guy, but for a husband, a somewhat softer, more cerebral type. The thought is that the softer, cerebral type will be a better provider and that is what they instinctively are looking for.
How true it is, I dunno...interesting theory, though...
