I usually end up at about 11:00 & 1:00
And in the words of J. Charles Thmopson: "The flashes should come forward of the side of the leg. The middle of the back one should not be further back than the middle of the side of the leg, and no part of the front one should be past the center of the front of the leg. This gives you quite a bit of latitude..."
Sounds like we all got it right

Based on this, as long as you have the flashes in the front outer quadrant of your leg, you'll be okay. Wear them wherever it looks or feels best to you. Just make sure you wear them the same way on each leg. We must be symetrical you know.

So, for those that wear their flashes forward, does your sgian dhu align with the flash or is it at 3:00 for your righties and 9:00 for you lefties?
(I'm a lefty and get ragged sometimes from sorts who say I'm wearing my sgian dhu on the wrong shank. So, I have to tel them the obvious, which I'm getting tired of doing.)

I wear my sgian pretty well centered over the right flash. It seems to ride better there than in the 3 o'clock position because my shin just to the right of the tibia is a bit flatter.

If you feel down the anterior surface of your lower leg, you'll feel a slight crease just medial to the tibia, between the tibia and the soleus muscle. I can tuck a sgian in there and wear it in comfort all day. This more-or-less aligns with my flashes, but that's coincidental.

Same place I put mine.

I center them at 10 and 2. When I wear a sgian dhub I line it up with the back flash, slightly forward of 9 (also a lefty).

Where ever they land on the out side of the leg.

10 & 2 always. That's the way Matt and Scottie Thompson said to wear them, so that's the way I've always worn them. I also notice that most others do as well, but I really don't pay attention these days.
Do whatever makes you happy. The worst that will happen will be a warning from the Kilt Police! I don't think they even hand out citations for failure to flash properly. (Tongue firmly planted in cheek.)
