I think I'd only have some casual kilts for daily wear and some formal ones for that special occasion.

Sorry to hear of your problem Glen, just try to think of the poor souls who are still in trousers and don't have even one kilt.
and be thankful.
Take care my friend

My thought is I will continue to buy kilts, if my lady continues to buy shoes. She owns about 60+ pairs of shoes and I'm sure more are on the way. When I catch up with her and I own 60+ kilts, I will only buy a kilt when she buys new shoes.
What's funny is that when the time comes that I do have 60 kilts and she has 60 pairs of shoes, my justification will probably go to, well "technically" you have 120 shoes, so I need 60 more kilts.

Rather than quantity of trousers, I‘d compare to quantity of shirts.
Dress shirts, casual shirts, sport shirts, t-shirts, etc.
Heavyweight and middleweight and lightweight.
Each different for wedding, church, work, leisure, etc.
That’ll add up to quite a number.

Quite simple really; Buy a second home; convert each room into a closet area, and... no more problem!
Well, until the house fills up......

I seem to buy a kilt when the whim strikes, about two each year. I know I should slow down but at the moment I only have 7, so we'll see what happens.
20 would suit all my needs, I'm sure. I don't know what I would do with more. I'd have to start selling some. I tend to buy a kilt with a function in mind, like formal or weather-specific kilts. There's only so many varieties one could need to get through the year. Anymore than that and I'd have to take a moment to seriously ask myself why I am spending so much money on clothes. >_< (no matter how happy it makes me)

I've got 6 tailored kilts and about the same number of off the rack kilts (Stillwater, etc.). Right now there aren't really any other kilts I'm really looking to acquire right now, although you never know what the future will hold.
Instead, since I now have my own tartan designed, I'm looking to get different garments in that tartan, everything from a full 9-yard knife pleated, to trews, to hats, scarves, whatever.
I just seems that now that I have "my" tartan, I want to focus on it.
