I'm not sure what I can add here. The whole point of the X-Kilt is this:
1. for people to learn about what it takes to stitch up a kilt
2. to develop an appreciation for what goes into a professionally made, custom kilt, and understand why it costs what it does.
3. to give people with NO experience whatsoever a shot at making a simple, contemporary kilt.
There are specific fit measurements that I did not put in the instructions. For example, if you visit the Freedom Kilts website, he incorporates "slope" into the creation of your kilt. There's no "slope" in the X-Kilt. It's simple. It's a knockaround, it's easy, it's fun (or should be!) Now if you, as the X-Kilt "builder" want to take the kilt "beyond" all that, that's entirely up to you.....go for it, learn, and share what you learn!
I've never made internal pockets in a kilt, though I've made two sets of the external cargo pockets that I wrote up. I, PERSONALLY, don't like external cargo pockets and I don't have them on my own X-Kilt. I put them in the instructions just so that guys who did want them, had a guide. However, honestly I think that Farlanders "revised" pockets look better than what I designed, so maybe you could ask him.

Thanks Alan, I am quite pleased with how well the pockets turned out! Not only are they quite functional, I think they look good too. Still, these are clearly external cargo pockets, not internal pockets like Kris had in mind.
For anyone who is interested, check out the following for some pictures and a quick description:

If anyone is interested in more details, I would be delighted to provide the dimensions that I finally settled on. If folks really wanted, I could probably be talked into drawing a little picture with dimensions and such.
