OK there seems to be a rallying cry that I should have "dealt with someone with a good reputation, a local kiltmaker, etc." I live in NJ and I have dealt with Matt Newsome and had great experience...he isn't exactly local, and I was referred to him by this site. Now, the kilt fiasco that started this thread...well this company is a SPONSOR of this site. I didn't find anything negative about them, only positive reviews. The company is TartanWeb AKA Scottishkilts.net They have had over 2 weeks to respond and it would seem I will be keeping this kilt. Some of you feel I made an unclear request, however I sent pictures to show exactly what I wanted. The burden of responsibility rests only with the kiltmaker. I believe this is all I wish to say about this matter. Thank you.

My suggestion would be to place a call. They wouldn't be the first person to not receive a email. When I don't get a reply in a day or two to email I always call assuming they may not have received it. Even though your emails got though with no trouble before, a new spam filter etc. could easily have shunted it somewhere besides the inbox. So never assume an email sent is an email received unless proven.

When you get them explain the problem and see what their response is. I certainly understand your frustration but sitting around waiting for a reply to an email isn't productive.

    Agreed on the call.
If you're truly displeased with the product, a phone call is in order.

I suspect that they have not replied because they misunderstood what you ordered. Now having looked at it again they probably realise that they have kocked it up and are hoping that if they ignore you they will go away.

Did you pay by credit card? If so you could ask your card company to intervene. Explain that the goods they have supplied are not what you ordered and they have not responded to your contacts.

You could also look and see if they belong to any commercial bodies - chambers of commerce etc and complain to them or trawl the internet and complain to their local 'Trading Standards Office' which is a Government body charged with keeping business honest.
The 'Eathen in his idleness bows down to wood and stone,
'E don't obey no orders unless they is his own,
He keeps his side arms awful,
And he leaves them all about,
Until up comes the Regiment and kicks the 'Eathen out.

Aye, this is a difficult sittuation and I think the advice from this thread is excelent.

I will echo one particular point: First, find a kilt maker you like. Second, get to know your kilt maker, if at all possible. If you can manage that, you've got it made in the shade.
