Steve, I believe that when you said right side of the road, you meant right as in correct. i find that the switch is natural as soon as I reach for the shifter, whether it is on my left (U.K.) or on my right (U.S.).

Yes - thanks for correcting me. I was thinking right side of British vehicles which is where their steering wheel is located.

There's a book entitled Driving In Britain - A North American's Guide to the Ins and Outs and Roundabouts of Driving Over There. It can be purchased from Amazon.com.

It's extremely helpful to anyone about to drive in the UK. Far easier & practical than reading the British Highway Code, which can be found online.

I have a far easier adjustment to UK driving than the return home. I've never found myself going down the wrong side of the road, but sometimes when making turns I gotta quickly think things out before proceeding. And sometimes it feels peculiar to be motoring on the right side.

Sorta unrelated... A local puke tried to carjack a citizen recently. What made the news was that the driver had a Lexus with a manual transmission. Puke didn't know how to drive a manual and ended up being apprehended as a result.

    Slainte yall,
    steve

I think, perhaps, we have one of these trans Atlantic things here. When we(the Brits.) are talking about driving on the left,we are talking about the left side of the road.I think, you chaps are talking about where the steering wheel is. Am I correct?

    Correct.

And thanks for the photos. My wife and I were over there this past fall, and I miss it.

As for the driving, I'm like Steve, I am quicker to adjust to driving on the left side of the road than I am to readjust to driving on the right. Back in the states this fall, I scared my wife a few times pulling out on the wrong (for here) side as if I was still in Scotland.

Correct. Of course we talk about driving on the left too. Confusing isn't it? At least the brake, clutch, & accelerator pedals are situated the same as ours.

Thus far I've collided with no one in the UK. Though outside of Perth, some jughead did something mighty stupid within a roundabout and almost collided with me. Closest call I've had over there and I'm sure he was as much a tourist as was I.

    Slainte,
    steve

I am afraid to say that visitors on the road,in the UK, are a hazard to navigation and should be made to walk everywhere!Only joking!

I don't understand how yall manage to tolerate us. Must be the money....

And I've witnessed left-side-drivers here forget the correct side, though in all fairness, they were Japanese nationals. Thank heavens nothing happended.
