You know, just wear whatever won't cause you to get heat stroke. I learned that the hard way last summer. Heavyweight wool kilt, wool kilt socks, Jacobite shirt, and 100+ degrees at a Highland fest just don't make good bedfellows in my opinion. SO--- I love my SWK thrifty's, regular socks, and a T shirt. Oh, and a sporran of course, unless I'm taking my camera. My camera bag is big enough for my very limited supply of crap, which consists of wallet, keys, and cell phone. My friends tease me about it being my summer murse- man purse. Wise a**es...

I am surprised that you guys wear socks during the summer. No socks or shoes for this bloke. Sandals only!!

When it is hot I don't wear hose (here in Italy could be almost impossible...
During the day: barefoot or plain leather sporty shoes, amerikilt or sportkilt, polo shirt
in the evening or night: plain leather sporty shoes (or short socks and hiking shoes for the fresher night), the same kilt as the day (even if sometimes I can wear even the wool one) and a light cotton shirt.
the worst moment iti is obviously around midday, but usually at this hour I'm in my swimsuit on the beach!! ahhhhhhhhh what a pleasure!!!

I just wanted to say again, in case you missed it ... sandals.
I've got a pair of high-tech nylon ones, and a pair of leather ghillie-styles, that I wear with my kilt on hot days (roughly late February through mid-January here).
