found out that in a pinch the handle can be used as a 3/4" wrench

I cut my apples before I eat them because I'd rather find a worm that way, than by biting into it.
When I'm carrying my sgian in my hose, it's my general purpose "go-to" knife. If I'm not wearing hose, I carry a Cold Steel Recon folder tucked inside my waistband.
At work, I carry my sgian around my neck (under my shirt) as a last ditch negotiation tool.

I carry my Sgian evertime I wear my kilt
I carry my Sgian everytime I wear my kilt. I wear a kilt almost daily for work and I always tuck my sgain in my sock. It is a bit of a conversation piece. The only draw back is the police. I had a sgain dubh confiscated by the Mass State police while on public transportation.

That's odd, both my girlfriend and I are still alive.

I always have at least one blade on me at all times. The list James had pretty much mirrors my list. There are many uses for my job that get added as well. As an Army Food Inspector I use mine constantly and I spend most of my time supervising. Most of my young Soldiers don't carry a knife and I can't understand it. All my Commanders have known that if a knife is needed I'm the one to ask, even in PT uniform. I've even used it to field dress a feral hog when hunting. The only time I don't have a blade is when flying, then it is in checked baggage.

Oddly enough it isn't a blade that I always find myself in need of, it's a screwdriver!
I wish the otherwise very nice officers sgian dubh included a flat head and phillips head among its arsenal (this is why I like my leatherman style tool).

When I am in dress kilt mode, I have several Sgian Dubhs to choose from, all of which have edges and could be used for practical puposes, though I rarely have the need to use them, since I'm always carrying a Swiss Army Knife in my sporran anyway. Of the SD's my Cold Steel Culloden actually has seen the most use of them all.
I have carried a pocket knife of some sort almost every day of my life since I was 8 years old. I am always amazed at people who tell me they never carry one, but this discussion usually comes at the time they are borrowing mine.

I asked because it is not my habit to carry a knife. It is not in culture to walk around with a knife in my pocket. I can't think of any of my chore requires me using a knife. I find it odd to see people walking around the city with knives on their belts. For a few months in my life, I carried a swiss army knife in my bag. It stayed in my bag and I never had to take it out. I ended up taking it out and I didn't regret the decision. I have since lost the swiss army knife.
