Wear what ever tartan you fancy. I personally like to pick from my family's history, but go for what ever you like. (Besides you have TWO excuses to buy a nice kilt!)

Hello  and a warm from Boston, Massachusetts.
Wear the tartan(s) that you are happy with. I say go for Grandmother's Buchanan first and then get a MacDougall, followed by any other tartan or self colour kilt that you are comfortable with. For a goodly glue to the computer's monitor, check out the kilt do's and don'ts thread in the kilt advise forum. Plenty of good humour there as well as good advice.

As 50% of your genetics is due to each parent (and 25% to each grandparent) wearing a maternal line tartan is just as valid as a paternal one. More so if you like the tartan, and are honouring a relative...
