You also have Amerikilts for contemporary.

While there are many that think the "starter" kilts are the wrong way to go, I am not among them.
Stillwater is the place to start. When your pocketbook gets fatter, you can move up!

Have fun with low price kilts, but don't forget to have a dream. Think value rather than price and start saving/earning towards a hand sewn kilt someday. Take a look around your closest highland games and you'll see why.
Kilt lust is a great incentive to earn a promotion or find a higher paying job.

Welcome from Boulder CO!
Depending on your size, you might be able to get a Utilikilt for a killer price - they have some non-standard sizes/colors on sale for 40% off - this makes a standard at around $90 plus shipping. Check their website - on the lower left there is a "news" panel that has a link to the sale kilts.

Welcome to the rabble. I highly recommend Stillwater. I have three of Jerry's kilts, an economy and two standards. I love them all. The economy is a great first kilt.

Stillwater also makes a Saffron (solid color) as well as the Black. I wear a belt with my Thrifty ($15.00 from K-Mart) 2" Wide belt, 'stressed' pewter buckle.

Welcome from the Palmetto State!!!
I agree that Stillwater would be a good pick if you wan't a cheap and very well made kilt. Also, Sport Kilt makes a durable and well priced kilt, and both sites offer good value accessories, but yeah, check them both out. And also look around at other sites, keep your options open, for there are many good kilts out there at a good price!

And don't forget to keep an eye on the "for sale" ads on here as well.
"My beloved America, thank you for your children. If your children want to become soldiers I will train them. When they are hungry I will feed them. When they are thirsty I will give them water. When they fight for freedom I will lead them. When they are unsteady on the battlefield I will motivate them. If they die on the battlefield I will bury them. So help me God."
