Generally speaking, you either have the greatkilt (which can be bustled in the back, although that doesn't really look like a knot), or a shortened kilt, which is, in essence, the great kilt with most of the cloth above the kilt cut off. So, it still is pleatable and wraps, but it doesn't have the sheer mass of extra material above the belt.

This is an example of bustled:

I would have to say that what I saw was bustled, however, I somehow he had it partly pulled/gathered together. This is definitely what I woul dlike to know about. Thanks!

One of the main features of the belted plaid, that makes it my kilt of choice, is its versatility.
There are so many variations possible...and the best part is... they mainly address comfort.
For the sake of comfort, I would tidy things up a bit... maybe bustle a bit more behind you, so as not to be a hinderance.

Thanks for this information. Now I just might purchase some MacNaughtan tartan and wear it like that.

Variety is the spice of life...there's more than one way to skin a cat. The way you put together your Great Kilt is different, but not WRONG!!!! I like the look! More power to Brasilikilt!! How dare anyone say differently! The kilt is all about individuality. Screw conventionality!

i don't think we were bashing on him like that, but just opinions and comments on how we've seen it done and how we wear it.

I think I really should take pictures of me wearing mine the way I usually do.
These pictures are what I took while messing around with the top half, so that is the reason why it looks messed up

    Thanks again everyone

I made no personal attacks of anyone here...I only gave my opinion, too, regarding the trouble he's gotten outside of XMTS.
