A windproof kilt?

My school buddy's brother was in the Scottish Regiment in Australia, and inside his Kilt, just above the 'hem' his mom had sewn little pockets and inserted heavy washers. It kept the kilt from lifting, and the washers could be slipped out during cleaning. It was like every three pleats at back and 4 inch spacing re Apron.

Don't do anything. Wind makes wearing a kilt that much more interesting. Kinda keeps you on your toes...or if you don't care, keeps those around you on their toes.

I'm with Galb - and attwood - you may not be as exposed by the wind as you think you are. We are having a breezy day here today and, although I have been kept cool by the wind stirring the pleats, that is really all that the wind has done. I know that early in my kilt wearing career I thought I was having Marilyn moments quite often, particularly in my lighter weight PV kilts, but I've come to realise that this is not really so.

BTW I was wearing a cheap (GBP50) 5yd wool Hunting Stewart today.

Hear! Hear! I walked across the Sydney Harbour Bridge in my 16oz tank on Australia Day, and there was an absolutely incredible updraught! I had to walk in front of my wife so she could let me know if my kilt was lifting too much. The truth is, your kilt feels like it's lifting much more than it actually is. It was quite a confidence booster.

If you're sure you want weights you might try brass window sash chain in a hem. Don't use steel unless it's rust-free; it will stain the fabric.

During vacation in Provance, we had an appartment in realy very windy location on the top of the hill. My lightweight kilt was "having a fun" in the wind, but never did realy swing very high or even wide open.

So my opinion is more and more, that we're making to many problems around this. Even if you watch skirts, they do swing in the wind but with no dramatic resoult.

OK, it can happen, but...it's not the end of the world.
