WOW! Thank you for welcoming me, one and all. I must say, I'm blown away!
The last time I was on a Celtic type board there wasn't much activity. This seems very active which is excellent! I did a search and there are a few MacFies (et al,) and read some of their postings.
We are in Rhode Island and in fact my son and I saw the Newport Hibernian Bagpipers play the Blessing of the Fleet in Narragansett on Saturday. It was too short, but very good.
I am looking for a local kilt maker (yeah right! ) if possible since Caryl wants to be involved in purchasing. He also wants a sporran. I've sent him the kilt guide and I have the funny feeling it's going to take a while before he settles on what he wants. I had a kilt as a girl. My parents brought two home, one for my sister and one for me back in the 70's. I do not know what happened to them. Unfortunately I don't wear kilts or skirts especially ones made of wool as I'm very allergic (weird for a person mostly Scottish isn't it? ). I'd like to eventually get both of the tartans especially the ancient MacFie (Grandma made a blanket of this tartan,) and have something that I can wear yet will not touch my skin.
Thank you for the recommendations of Kilt makers. I will visit their sites. And I know I'm a noob so I will try to do my best not to offend. Thanks to all of you!
