I really hate to bring this up, but it looks like your twill is running the wrong way (according to 'The Book').

But then again, I don't have 'the book' (and I don't even know what 'book' you're referring to).

Out of my 4 kilts, 2 run to the right, 2 to the left.

    So, what's to hate?

    I love it.

No hate--just an observation. Barbara T thought the direction of the twill was important enough to talk about in The Art of Kiltmaking.

This is mostly due to the fact that (at least) wool has a finished side and an unfinished side. If you look carefully you'll find flaws in the "wrong side" that won't show up on the finished side of the fabric.

    Cheers!

Wow. That really does look fantastic. You obviously have a talent for this since all your Kilts look great.
Can't wait to see the finished result.

Man, Hector, that is coming along both fast, and well! I'm really keen to see it finished.

ok, here's some more progress shots, I think I will be able to finish it entirely today, as all I have left to do is the top edge, the belt loops...and that's about it.

I always sew the lining by hand, but as far as the kilt proper, that should be it.

More pics when im finished, wearing it proudly. But the thing already sweaps+swager=swoons beautifully

    and the finished pleat side.

Looks great so far Hector. Looking forward to the finished kilt being worn.
Thanks for excellent shots of your process steps.

OK, here's some snaps of the finished kilt, completed and being worn by none other than yours truly in my sunday's best 'at home tshirt'

The process went smooth like my other kilts, but the main difference as it may be obvious, was the military box pleating.

It is VERY time consuming and it is a PITA to baste and maneuver due to its inherent capacity to sway at the slightest movement.

Whenever I get my Weathered Young Tartan I will make it another Mil Box Pleat. As for the Young Modern...a handsome knife pleated it will be.
