    I guess i'm not too much into wearing historically accurat garb and that stuff. I like modern traditional kilts, and some contemporary, all made from machine woven fabrics. I know some people who aim for handwoven belted plads, though. They also try to be accurate in the rest of the reenactment.

    The only reason a blacksmith would wear a kilt is to be comfortable, at least a modern one.

    And blacksmiths of old had to hit ALL the nails on the head before the carpenter ever saw them!

    The local blacksmith when I was young wore a long leather apron which came way down past his knees it would have covered a kilt completely he wore trousers however

    You know, I've been thinking about it... I think he wore trews.

    Just doesn't seem right with the kilt.
