Excellent.
Sorry for the delay in replying (family emergency that took me out of town) and resurrecting this thread but thanks to everyone for the excellent information. Definitely helped me in making my decision and learned a bit along the way. I wound up going with McMurdo's suggestion, just placed my order and cant wait to see it. Let the jonesing being.
Also, an interesting perspective by Diel the Yin. Thanks for taking the time to add that.

Her feeling is that "most" leather is a by-product of the meat industry, so she is a bit more tolerant of that as opposed to where the other furs may come from. She may be a bit mis-informed on this subject, but I choose my battles wisely, and this is one I choose not to fight.
And the "meatatarian" commercial is a classic. I snicker whenever it comes on.
Hope everyones' day is well.

The Traditional Horse Hair Sporran
First, no matter what anyone else my suggest, a leather sporran just isn't a "formal evening wear" item. Day wear, fine. Evening wear (think dark suit, not black tie) maybe. But with a Price Charlie it just doesn't come close. Since your special lady is opposed to fur, let me suggest you go for a horsehair sporran-- totally appropriate for wear with a PC, totally not "fur", and it will look totally cool-- this is one of those little "style statements" that lets you stand out from the crowd without looking silly. Avoid getting one of the "bandsman" sporrans (the ones without the pocket in back) and go for a plain cantle, with a leather insert where you can carefully mount a clan badge. They aren't cheap, but really look the biz.
NorCal Piper has one for sale for $120-- it looks good and the price is well below market value. Check out the "For Sale" section.
