Congrats
Derek,
I am glad you bought a tartan. That is a good first Kilt, I am new to the Kilted Gentry too. Alas I bought an AK but I shall endover to have a tartan soon.

Great first kilt. That is one on my list, as I was an officer in IL, before moving to FL.

I have to assume that the pics are the mirror view of you, though, since the kilt pin looks like it's on your left side. Am I right?
Very true. I'll have to have someone grab better pics this weekend.

That's a nice looking sporran too.
It's a great looking first kilt. My first "real" kilt was an SK as well, and I'm very happy with it.
For your next one, I reccomend an SWK Standard. It's a step up kilt-wise as far as something to wear out and about, and extremely economical. And it will help you decide whether you prefer acrylic or PV, as well.

Thank you for the advice... I was considering that or a Heavyweight for my next purchase, most likely in the USMC Leatherneck tartan, though it's not available in Heavyweight there (that I can see). So... I don't know....
