I just posted this on another thread - because its kind of buried at the end of a long thread, I thought I'd paste it here, too.
Hymo and Acro canvas are NOT heavy enough for kiltmaking.
I'm currently using Tailor's Pride, which is made by HTCW products in Georgia (the US Georgia). Their web site is
http://www.htcwproducts.net
If you contact them, they'll be able to tell you if they have UK distributors.
The Tailor's Pride that I order is the one listed here (this site also has a picture, if you've never seen hair canvas before):
http://store.sawyerbrook.com/Tailors..._p_39-103.html
It's also available at Vogue Fabrics at:
http://www.voguefabricsstore.com/sto...vas-p-840.html
Tailor's Pride is not as heavy as the stuff I used to buy that was called "red edge canvas", because there was a red stripe down one edge. But it's the heaviest I've found lately.

Barb, just so everyone in the UK knows... , the tailor's canvas/hair canvas that John Lewis sells is the right stuff, sometimes they have 2 weights of it, the heavier stuff was really good, but the moderate stuff is also fine.To be honest most of the fabric shops over here do know what tailors hair canvas is, so it seems that we are luckier with out shops than you across the water.

Canvas interfacing in the UK
I have just received the horsehair canvas that I ordered from Bernstein & Banleys in London. It has a nice hand and is the same type of interfacing fabric I have used in fine tailoring in the past. They included a list of their assorted linings and trimmings and it is extensive.

"THE Book"
I have just finished sewing three tartan kilts and would like to thank ALL for the invaluable comments and advice. If I were to make them again there are things I would do differently but they are stunning and I'm delighted as are the recipients. "The Art of Kilt Making" is the BEST resource for anyone attempting the challenge of kilt making. Thank you again!!

Here on X Marks we have this cruel little phrase we use.
"If there are no pictures, it didn't happen."

How about having photos here (or elsewhere)? You have to have a user defined in Facbook to use your link, which I don't like.

I'd love to post a photo but I don't have them on a web site anywhere.... just as files and in emails...
