DWFII, this register ( http://www.tartanregister.gov.) is the ONE , that's why it is so important, you will find there are reference numbers to some of the other unofficial ones listed there as well. Of course there will always be a little confusion with some names, but hopefully from now on this will become the "master " one, certainly that is the intention!

Thank you. I couldn't get the link to work until I Googled it and lo, and behold, here on this side of the pond you need to add ".UK" to the URL so that it becomes http://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/

I was having a discussion with another member in a different thread and some confusion arose as to the proper name of a particular tartan. It's no big deal, really, as the names were close enough you might understandably interchange them, but I am a curious and dogged fellow and wanted to "get it right."

I had run across this site before but didn't take note of the ".gov.uk" address.
