I always carry two.

Since a picture is worth a thousand words, here are a few pictures of my always present handkerchiefs. I restricted the photos only to those in which I am wearing the kilt!

I always carry a couple of plain, white hankies and a few tissues in addition to the pocket square. I would not use a pocket square as a handkerchief, so it does not leave the breast pocket.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Ted
I'm with you on this. I actually normally carry 3, two in the sporran and one that stays in the pocket.

Wow, such harsh words over a pocket square. But in reality, the single peaked hanky looks just like a turned out pocket, at least to my peasant eye.

During the Great Depression, a turned-out pocket, usually a trouser pocket, was known as a "Hoover flag", in reference to President Hoover. That's what I thought of when I read this thread.

Well I for one think that pulling out your pocket would look terrible. As for hankie's it is a rare man that comes prepared with hankie's for ladies. And those who do, score lots of points in my book.

A gentleman without a pocket square? Unthinkable.
