Glad everything is OK, Dan. Hope your wedding goes really well, and glad you ordered the black hose.
Good luck.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Dan, the shoulder pads look fine. You will need to get a three button vest if you are going to wear a black bow tie, but other than that I think it will look just fine on the day.

The Eton looks just fine.
OK, you didn't ask, and I usually don't chime in about stuff like this, but I'm gonna pop off with my two cents. Mind you, this is MY opinion, which is worth exactly....two cents..
The Eton Jacket is a formal jacket, and so would usually be worn with a bow tie rather than a long tie. New formal fashion might suggest you could go for one of these Ruche Cravats..
...though I personally would wear a Ruche cravat with a 5-6 button vest. But that's just me. Well, actually, it' snot me because I'm old and I wouldn't wear a Ruche Cravat! But you might! Anyway, more on vests, later. I, personally would break up the dark jacket/dark vest/dark tie/dark shirt combination. If it were me, I'd do that with a white shirt, but that's just me.
And finally....and you have no idea how much it irks me (about myself, like I have any right to tell anybody what to wear) to write this, but here goes....
As a general guideline, I'd say to use the five or six button vest that you have there, with an argyll or braemar or crail style jacket...like this.
....not the Eton jacket.
Team the single-button Eton Jacket up with a low, three button vest, like this. This is X Marks very own Thomsec, at the 2009 Nor Cal Burns Night, wearing the EXACT SAME JACKET you have purchased, with a three-button vest, and sew-on-himself pewter buttons.
Thomsec is on a serious budget, and purchased all the "formal" kit you see there from Uniformalwearhouse (the shirt, Eton Jacket, backless 3-button vest, cufflinks, studs (for the shirt) and bow tie.) He teamed it up with a USA Kilts casual model kilt, which would probably make some folks cringe but we all thought he looked great. I think the buttons came from ebay...try looking for "Treasure Cast".
If you really want to wear a long tie and the vest you have in the photograph, how about finding a "budget" sportcoat and sending it to vmac312 here on X-Marks for her to adapt to a crail/argyll type jacket for you?
All this said, it's your wedding and you should wear what you like, because the only people you need to please are yourself and your bride.

well
On the issue of the dark shirt, that is not what I will be wearing, I will be wearing a white shirt, but with a low tie, my wife and I both dislike bow-ties.
Also I think those silver buttons on those jackets are AWFUL looking. just my personal opinion, but I want something a little less flashy, and I am leaning more towards the irish style. (Why have shiny buttons when I can have a kicker of Jameson in my inside pocket!, just kidding.)
I have 150$ left in my budget, and still no kilt. The kilt is gonna run me about 130$, so I will have 20 left over. So it looks like This is it. After our brief ceremony I guarantee the eaton will come off anyways and I will spend our reception in my waistcoat, so I will look into the option of getting a 3-button waistcoat.
I will just have to explore outside the bounderies of "kilt rules." I just want to know if the shoulder pads look bad, and if the waist coat is too long. Thank you all for your time. ;D

Sounds good, Dan, and if you will not be wearing a bow tie, but a long tie, then the five button waistcoat is the right one.
Good luck.

Well, then there you go! Put on dress shoes and those black hose you bought, and the white tie and go have yourself a grand wedding.....and have FUN! It's not often that you get to shamelessly be the center of attention! LOL
The Etons shoulders look great, no worries about the pads..
