How does one order them? Your website only shows kilts, as far as I can tell....

FWIW - I bought a pair of the military socks WPG sells and was not happy with the result. The socks only came in LARGE or Medium so I ordered the medium. They were about 2 inches too long and a couple of sizes bigger around than my size 9 foot. Luckly, the LOML is a very talented knitter. She unravled the socks from the toe back to the ankle and reknitted the whole foot. This is not a weekend project - she's been at it for a couple of weeks during the eveining. If she had not been able to fit me I'd have sent the socks back.

I have/had four pairs of the WPG khaki hose and now have one serviceable pair. All three pair have holes in the heels and toes. We've tried to darn them but "darn them" they still come apart. The last pair are showing signs of too much wear in the same spots. I don't abuse my stuff and none of the other hose seem to have the same troubles. I've seen/heard about others having similar problems. Now that there is an alternative for khaki hose I'm going to jump on it. Too many of my kilts can use the khaki colored hose. How do we go about ordering a pair or two? McHummel, does your site allow us to order the hose? At this point it seems all we can get are kilts. I know you said that you are updating the website, so let us know when we/I can get an order in for the khaki popcorn topped hose. Thanx in advance.

    Nulty,

I also added a link in my previous post to The Tartan Thistle, which also sells the same hose, just from Scotland, instead of Canada.

Thanx for the info Kilted John. This gives me another spot to check. We may also be heading back to the San Juans later this summer to vacation. Might stop in on Whidbey Island when there.

There is an ebay site selling "KILT SCOTTISH KNEE SOCKS CURRENT ISSUE NEW" for $3.00 a pair. They only have one size. I got 2 pair because of the price and they fit my 10.5 feet fine. They are very light weight wool - think "dress socks". The color is more of a sand then the green khaki. I've used them hiking with a second pair of hiking socks under them. They can serve the purpose I needed them for, but they are not as fancy or as heavy as the other mentioned in this thread. I have some WB Socks for more civilized pursuits. I like the looks of ones from Canadian Causal Kilts so they may be my next purchase.

Since I wear a size 15 shoe, I bought a pair of the large WPG hose to try out. While they fit, they are a little too snug of a fit to be comfortable for any extended periods. The quality of the knitting is about what I expected to get for the price.

I know WPG gets a lot of good press here but my experience with them was marginal at best. The jacket I raved about when I first recieved it wound up with one sleeve about an inch longer than the other. The OD kilt hose were about 3" longer than what I wear and they were the smallest size offered by WPG.

LOML was able to tailor the jacket sleeve and she unknitted the toes of the socks and reshaped them to fit. Not everyone is able to do this so watch teh fit when you get one ofthe garments from that store.
