As a bass player myself, this was my first instinct as well.

I just got back from a three hour practice wearing my kilt. When I asked the head guy in the band if he would mind me wearing my kily, he told me he would be mad if I didn't wear it.

Score one for the guys in plaid!

Hopefully I will have pictures to post here of me playing in my kilt after this Friday. Then, off to the pub gig next Friday, where I will most certainly have pictures.

    Thanks for the support guys.

I agree with The Barry. I earned my way through school as a rock drummer (had to play with three bands in order to play enough gigs to earn any real money.) My drumming was the only thing that mattered.

You can get away with wearing anything you like on stage. I was the singer in a rock band and used to wear black and gold tiger print trousers or a similar pair with black and yellow candy stripes. The beauty of it is that it's not even expected to be clothes that you would wear to walk down the street. A kilt is tame in comparison. Now maybe if you got a kilt in a tiger print ...???

Go for it! I've worn a kilt to every gig we've played since last summer. The experience has been all good! Our bass player has recently started wearing one too and both the drummer and sax player are hinting they may join the rabble... Kilt on!!

OK, I would gladly pay a cover to see that.
Why, a child of five could understand this. Quick -- someone fetch me a child of five!

Something I didn't realize until right now, but I am going to be on a stage and prefer to play a little close to the edge of the stage, just to be closer to people. Maybe I should think about wearing something under my kilt. Not sure how many people are going to want to catch a glimpse of what I keep under the kilt.
