Good question. I'm already on the Newsome waiting list for my Elliot Ancient box pleat, so that one's more or less off my list at this point. After that, I think I want a casual woolie in Elliot, just so I don't take the risk of ruining Matt's masterpiece by wearing it all the time. I also will probably end up ordering a USAK casual in Holyrood, mainly because I love that tartan. Beyond that, I will most likely end up with a Carolina of some variety and a few casuals to beat around in. Not sure what tartans yet.

At some point, I probably also need to get a sporran or three and a few belts as well. Hmmm..... Donnie does live just down the road a ways......

    Dear Santa,
I want a Cameron Black & Red kilt for formal attire,
an Ancient Gunn for bumming around in,
and a Doublas Modern just cause I want one.
    Cheers, ColMac

Gee Willickers Santa, I almost forgot - a kilt in USAF Reserve Pipe Band tartan to wear with my Mess Jacket.

For now, my want list is short mainly because of lack of funds. And since I opt to buy the more expensive hand made kilts, then my list is therefore short by design.

    Already acquired:
1- Ancient MacKay 13oz kilt from Burnett and Struth
2- Sporran, hose and fly palid
    3- Argyle and waiscoat

    Want list:
1- Modern Bruce tartan hand made 13 oz kilt (great-grandmother)
2- Isle of Sky tartan hand made 13 oz kilt (because I like it)

    Maybe:
    1- utilikilts

    Douglas Black
    Douglas Ancient Red
    Dark Douglas
    Scottish Borderlands District Tartan
    A Freedom Kilts Dress Model
    An R Kilts leather kilt

Out of that list one will be a Tewksbury and another will be Newsome box pleat.

    After those who knows?

I have three kilts so far:-

    Irish National
    Solid Black
County Cork (House of Edgar version)

I have a fourth Kilt on the way, a Solid Green one.

    After that, I don't know.

I do want another SportKilt, but I'm not sure which tartan, except it will be an Irish one of some kind. Maybe All Ireland Green, maybe St. Patrick, maybe even Irish Clover?

I would also like a Solid Saffron kilt, but I am cheap! I don't see the $70 Solid Saffron Standard on the Stillwater Kilts site now. Maybe they are just out of stock? I can wait. I know they have the Heavyweight in the Saffron Shadow tartan, but it's more money and I'd really prefer it to be just a solid colour.

Eventually I would like a kilt in Callaghan tartan, but that will have to be made specially as they aren't available anywhere and the fabric is special order, so not anytime soon.

Ideally, I would also like one in St. George, to represent England, but this is a special order tartan as well, so Callaghan takes precedence.

I like the Arsenal FC (soccer club) tartan too, and I'm a supporter, but all I've seen available in it was a dog lead, and I don't even have a dog!

I know there's no way I'm ever having as many as three kilts made up from special order tartans! I'm not made of money.

I really like the Caledonia tartan for some reason. OK, I like things that are bright and gaudy, but it's well down my list, after all those others. I'm not Scottish anyway.

    Ok, I'll say it:

    As lang's my arm!

Ok, that was cheesy, even for me.

When I first began "kilting" I quickly found myself falling into the instant gratification impulse buy hole. After a short time, and a nice kilt, I was able to sort out my priorities in regards to kilts.

At this point I tend to stew for months before I buy a new kilt. I have about 5 different tartans on my "list." The problem is deciding which one next...

Having acquired two versions of Maxwell and a Drummond of Perth, my list consists of:

Smith ancient 16 oz. 8-yard, and
    MacDougall 16 oz. 8-yard

That would cover most of the family connections, and then maybe a Texas Bluebonnet 16 oz. 8-yard.

And that would be it. Really. I promise. HA!

I have a SWK Thrifty in Irish National tartan to keep me happy for the moment. Here are some of the tartans I'm hoping to get eventually. Keep in mind, I want different lengths of skirt (mini-kilted skirt -- NOT micro-mini -- as well as hostess length, etc) not to mention sashes. I'm not ready to buy any of these yet, although I could see a sash in Griffith or Texas Bluebonnet in my near future if things start rolling for me soon.

    Griffith
    Grant
MacNeil (not sure which one yet, still figuring that out)
Muir? (I have Moore on both sides -- trying to figure out what I want to do with this one, too)
Any other surnames I uncover in my family tree, of course.
    Texas Bluebonnet
    American Heritage
(possibly one of the German tartans, but not sure yet)
    The XMTS tartan

Whatever district tartans I like that I find out has anything to do with my ancestry, as well as choosing a nice Scottish "heritage" tartan (haven't decided on any of these yet).

And of course, whatever my husband ends up picking for himself. He's still looking for "his" tartan, but he has plenty of time (he's still losing weight and doesn't want to put much money into kilts until then). He's said he would have no problem wearing one of my tartans, but I really would like for him to pick or design one of his own, too. In the meantime, I would love to start getting him more accessories.
